I banged out a couple of quick fields this week as a bit of a break from my teeny 1:72 Romans. Fields are very versatile bits of terrain, as they can be used for many different periods and settings and even for different scales. I would be happy to use these for both 1:72 and 28mm games.
I made two crop fields and three hay fields, one of which is a corner piece. For construction I pretty much followed The Terrain Tutor’s tutorials to the letter, so there’s little need to go into much detail (you can find his excellent tutorials here and here). I’ll just say that I used some corduroy fabric scraps for the crop fields and a bit of coconut fibre doormat for the hayfields. Glue them to a plastic base, paint the edges, add some flock and glue on a couple tufts from Army Painter. Bob’s your uncle!
Now it’s time
to get back to my Romans. Auxiliary archers are up next!
