Another year of paint stains and glue fumes is wrapping up, which means it’s time for another set of graphs! The Pokémon, by the way, came as part of a paint-your-own Pokémon set that my wife picked up for me for a laugh. The figures came with (terrible) pre-mixed paint and an (even worse) paint brush, but I binned those and used my own.
I didn’t build and paint quite as much as last year, but 205 figures, vehicles and terrain pieces is nothing to sniff at. 135 of those are related to Lord of the Rings. Among those are a 1,000 pt Isengard army and the start of a roughly 850pt. Rohan army. I’ve painted up another 24 infantrymen since posting the first twelve earlier this year. Now I’ve only got twelve more to do, plus Éowyn and Theoden. So, look forward to an army overview somewhere next year!
I also
assembled and painted the awesome Roman amphitheatre by Sarissa Precision,
together with some cool gladiators and civilians by Foundry, Sally 4th and Steve
Barber. I’ve also really been enjoying building some Dutch fighter jets. I love
history and aviation and building miniature airplanes was my first introduction
to the hobby as a teenager. I’ve finished an F-84F Thunderstreak and got an
F-104 Starfighter for Christmas, so those are sure to pop up here sometime in
2024.
I’ve managed to reduce my pile of shame a little but by selling my Warlord Games Roman Invasion of Britain starter set. I was never going to build the Britons and compared to Victrix, the WG Roman minis are a little small and chunky. I’ll eventually buy a new Roman army from Victrix, but for now I picked up about 70 Greek hoplites and skirmishers. I chose those over Romans, because they allow for a bit more variety in colour. So, that’s something for next year as well. Happy holidays and see you next year!
