So, the plane was a bit more difficult to assemble than expected. The parts didn’t really fit properly and there was quite a bit of flash. More annoyingly the model was designed to be built with its landing gear extended and the wheels and hatches were moulded as one part. Then again, you can’t really complain with a kit that’s under three euro’s. I tried cutting off the wheels and gluing the hatches on flat, but in no way was I able to make them fit. In the end I simply filled in the holes with some wall filler.
And here is
the finished build. I tried to be clever when gluing on the canopy, because I
didn’t want the clear plastic to fog up from the glue. So I put a drop of glue
on a bit of scrap plastic, gripped the canopy with some tweezers and tried to gently
it, but of course I let the canopy slip and it landed upside down in the glue... Oh well, nothing I can do about that now.
The smoke was made from the same polyester toy filling that I used for the waves for my Greek trireme. I gave it a light dusting with a rattle can to darken it a little and then sort of draped it around the metal wire.
